What is Eva up to now?

As usual, I decided to do this on a whim. The studio so happens to be right next door to my office building. The class starts right when my workday ends. I wanted to find a way to incorporate fitness with fun. And to be quite honest, I've always wondered what it feels like to be one of these sexy divas. Well, It's only been two weeks and I already have a new found respect for them. I have bruises on both of my knees, burns on my wrist, palm and ankle and my body is aching in unusual places. Yes it can be painful but when you are making that first perfect spin.... with controlled speed and multiple rotations .... it feels like Disney (but only the adult version).

A woman who takes pole dancing classes is a woman with an open mind.

I love it.

Congratulations, Eva, for expanding your dance universe!

This video shows what an art pole dancing can be. The pole is just another way to support the body so it can do other things--like the rings in gymnastics, or the trapeze in the circus.

I just hate it when people let their preconceptions make something sleazy, like pole dancing or belly dancing, when it is not.

OK, so the pole is a phallic symbol and is used in strip clubs. And belly dancing uses 75 lbs of costuming, but the belly is bare. Sometimes people can't see past that.

Pole dancing and belly dancing have a bad rep, but then so did tango!

I admire you for branching out and learning a whole new set of skills and flexing lots of new muscles.

I hope one day you'll post a video of you!

P.S. This week in Argentina, the popular show ShowMatch: Bailando por un Sueno, is having a pole dancing competition for couples!

Hola Ms Cherie!

Funny you mentioned trapeze. Malena and I just had a conversation about it over dinner the other night. There's a trapeze school nearby and that is next on our to-do list.

Wow, pole dancing competition for couples? I've seen men pole dance but... couples? That'll interesting. Will they be on the pole together at the same time? Hope someone will post youtube videos on this.

We are coming to BsAs in Nov and hope to finaly get to meet the lovely Ms Cherie in person.

Happy Dancing!

I am always looking for something quirky to try and start a business down here. Pole dancing classes have been popular on the West Coast for a few years, so I mentioned it to my Pelado. He just laughed and said it was a dumb idea, and would never fly. Three weeks later Bailando por sueƱos featured pole dancing...with classes popping up everywhere. Damn!

Hi Holly,

I just saw a pole dancing clip of Bailando Por Suenos on Access Hollywood the other day. They were comparing it to "Dancing with the Stars" and how the US might soon be ready to accept pole dancing in the dance forum. I also just read an article in the NY Times about Pole Dancing becoming a new trend in China.

I am sure your Pelado is kicking himself right now. Just had my third lesson last night and can't tell you what a great workout it was for my arms, back and abs. This sure beats the machines at the gym and... way way more fun. I sure hope you will give it a try. ; )

Ok, that's it. I am signing up too! It does look like so much fun. Eva, darling, good thing I will be in the beginner level as we can surely not be in the same room doing this together without laughing as only we can!
